Mon 23 Sep - Mon 9 Dec 2024

This eleven-lecture series offers a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating contrasts between two monumental composers—Anton Bruckner and Gustav Mahler—who, though separated by nearly four decades, both created towering symphonic cycles. While their styles and artistic aims differ greatly, both composers transformed the symphonic form profoundly.

The course is split between two venues—beginning at Charlton House (Mon 23 Sep) and continuing at Blackheath Halls (Mon 7 Oct). Two of the lectures at Blackheath will be extended by 45 minutes giving us twelve lectures worth of time.

Mons: 23 & 30 Sep (Charlton House) 7, 14 Oct, 21 Oct (Charlton House), 4, 11*, 18 & 25* Nov, 2 Dec (Charlton House) & 9 Dec

Full Course of 11 lectures: £160
