Blackheath Halls Orchestra are excited to be playing Holst’s The Planets this Autumn – a fabulous and ambitious piece.

Rehearsing from Wednesday 9 October we will be working towards presenting two concerts on Sunday 24 November.

Performance 1 at 4pm Aga Serugo Lugo will present this family concert. The concert will last approximately 45 minutes and Aga will present three of the planets from the suite with a narrative to engage a family audience. We will also be joined by a primary school group who will present their composition inspired by The Planets.

Performance 2 at 7pm Conducted by Chris Stark, the orchestra will perform the full Planets suite as well as The Needles, a short overture by Matthew Taylor in celebration of his 60th birthday.

As a very large orchestra is required to play this piece, we are looking for more players to come and join us for this exciting project.

We need to recruit:

1 contrabassoon
2 trumpets
1 trombone
1 bass trombone
