Welcome to Blackheath Halls

We are an events, arts and community venue in the heart of South East London, sitting at the top of Blackheath Village, 5 minutes walk from the nearest train station.

A registered charity since 1983, our beautiful historic building was built with the purpose of hosting live events and our aim is to continue this legacy, presenting a calendar of events throughout the year, where there is something for everyone.

As well as the live events programme we run an outstanding popular community engagement programme for people of all ages including a youth choir, orchestra and gospel chorus as well as one of the biggest annual projects, the annual Blackheath Halls Community Opera.

Blackheath Halls is also available to hire for performances, rehearsals, filming and private events.

Our venue also hosts large scale classical music and musical theatre performed by students from our parent company Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance giving audiences the opportunity to see the future stars of tomorrow at the early stages of their performance career.

Whether you are a first time visitor to our venue or somebody who has been walking through our doors for years, our ambition is to build a reputation as a successful community venue with cutting edge artistic standards, inspired by – and serving – our local communities and we very much hope you will come and experience Blackheath Halls for yourselves.

Performance Spaces

Our 500 seater Great Hall  boasts a beautiful high ceiling which provides some of the best acoustics in the United Kingdom for large scale orchestral performances. We regularly welcome world-renowned orchestras and ensembles for recordings and rehearsals including the English National Opera and London Philharmonic Orchestra | Philharmonia Orchestra | Britten Sinfonia | Aurora Orchestra | Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment

Our raked seating bank means that we can offer comfortable and accessible seating for all of our performances.

The Hearn Recital Room is our smaller space and seats 160 people, used throughout the year for more intimate performances such as classical recitals, comedy, folk and children’s theatre.

Both spaces are available to hire.
